I was proud to be able to participate today in the 1st Annual UmbrELLA of HOPE Family Fun Walk. There were more than 560 registered participants and despite the chill in the air, hearts were warm. Young and old alike walked the 2-mile trail around Lakefront Park in Prior Lake, Minnesota. It was especially nice for me, to see some old friends (didn’t get pics of everyone). I was glad I wore long underwear (is it okay to say that?) and I still could have used a good pair of ear muffs. For more info about this worthy cause, go to www.umbrellaofhope.com.

A String Of Pearls…
22 04 2009I’ve had a princess-length string of pearls for more than 25 years, and I wore them a lot until a weight gain made them uncomfortable. They were a gift from my daughter and I treasure them. Recently, after losing the weight, I pulled them out of their box looking for something appropriate to wear for a photo shoot and to my delight, they fit perfectly.

“…Too Bad Nadia Couldn’t Be Here.”
10 04 2009My husband and I have been visiting my mother-in-law at a nursing home for nearly four years now, and the nurses there are familiar with who we are, but we don’t necessarily see the same gals each time we come. Well, time passed, and yesterday at Mom’s 99th birthday celebration in the TV room (more photos below), I heard one nurse say, “It’s too bad Nadia couldn’t be here”. I turned to her and said, “I’m standing right next to you.” She looked at me in wide-eyed disbelief until she regained her composure. Then we talked, not surprisingly, about how I lost the weight, and my book, THINKING SKINNY, which is close to completion. Photo above is of me, Chuck and Lu.
